Last days of 2016

Today is Thursday, December 29.

Two days to go in 2016; two days left for the year to dump some more bad news on us. I’m looking forward to 2017 being a Good News year, and I’m going to do everything I can to make that so.

So just before midnight two days from now, I plan to escort 2016 to the door, shake his hand and thank him for keeping things interesting, and bid him fairwell. 2017 will be waiting patiently at the end of the driveway, and as soon as the departing year has gone away to spend the rest of eternity in the past, I’ll invite the new year in to celebrate and begin making plans.

From my current vantage point in late 2016, I can look past my driveway and see a lot of some obstacles in the road ahead, but I’m confident that with some careful planning and patience, we can remodel the house, plant some trees, and join our friends and neighbors to make a better home for us all.
